My creative journey as an artist has always been one of discovery. The art I create is a metaphor for life’s journey and the story of my experiences along the way. This path, like my creative process, is ever shifting, sometimes clear and straightforward, other times meandering and convoluted. Over the years, I have incorporated a variety of media to record my personal and psychological wanderings. Hopefully, the finished work engages the viewer in an expressive dialogue about the shared mysteries and experiences of the human journey

Although a painter at heart, my work now focuses on mixed media because it expands my visual vocabulary, allowing me to interweave materials and approaches to fit the dictates of the work, not to mention the fact that it justifies my pack rat tendencies. Taking bits and pieces of ephemera and other found materials and combining them with traditional painting and drawing media may seem quite disparate at first but the materials help guide my process. The outcome can be surprising, frustrating and on occasion revealing and magical

I tend to work in series to develop a more intimate knowledge of the themes and symbols that run throughout my art. As I look back over the journey and my work, I realize that I am always asking, “What if?” to discover answers to questions that I have not asked yet. As I search for connections and meanings along the way, the stories in my art evolve, expand, and transform, revealing new associations and meanings to our shared human experiences.

I have reached a place in time where my motto is “If you don’t JUMP, you’ll never SOAR!”  It is my hope that my artwork challenges the viewer to ask, “What if” and then go ahead and jump to discover their own meanings and connections.
